Ten Interesting Facts About Antigua

Intro from Joy:

There are plenty of choices for the perfect tropical vacation. There are hundreds of amazing getaways in the Caribbean alone. There are 7000 islands in its 28 island countries! It might be difficult to choose just a few when there are so many options available. We often visit the same locations in order to prevent it. Why would you act in such way? This time, I was determined to try someplace fresh and unusual. I had a great vacation to Antigua after doing a lot of research. These are ten interesting things you should know about Antigua, based on my study.

1) Pronounce it as An-TEE’ ga, Antigua! The aboriginal people refer to it as “Waladii or Wadadii” as well.

2) Site:

is a real component of Antigua and Barbuda. Approximately 30 miles north of Antigua, Barbuda is a flat coral island with an area of 68 square miles. Antigua is located in the Eastern Caribbean, midway between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, in the Leeward Islands. The biggest English-speaking Leeward Island is Antigua. Even yet, at 14 miles by 11 miles, it is still rather modest. The deserted island of Redonda, a less than one square mile natural reserve, is part of Antigua & Barbuda.

3) The weather is perfect:

While the whole of the Caribbean is undoubtedly warm and sunny, Antigua is the most sun-filled island in the Eastern Caribbean. Mid-70s and mid-80s are the typical winter and summer temperatures. The island is blessed with 45 inches of annual rainfall on average, along with consistent trade breezes from the northeast. This indicates almost year-round low humidity.

4) Something to suit everyone’s needs:

The beach comes to mind when you hear the word Caribbean, but there is much more. Everything can be found in St. John’s capital, from upscale duty-free stores to independent boutiques. You may visit any of the casinos or sports betting establishments as gambling is permitted. Nelson’s Dockyard is the place to sail and yacht. One of the best regattas in the world, Antigua Sailing Week, is held there as well. You may discover more about the rich history of the region at the Dockyard Museum. You may explore the remains of the island’s many sugar plantations to learn more about its past. Take a zip line canopy tour or go trekking high in the jungle. See various natural wonders, such the sea-carved arch known as Devil’s Bridge. Alternatively, you may just recline and unwind, as Antigua offers…

5) 365 beaches with beautiful, fluffy white sand!

It’s common knowledge that Antigua has some of the Caribbean’s nicest beaches. I have to agree. The beaches will entice you to return again and again, whether your preference is to laze about all day drinking fruity cocktails or engaging in water and beach activities.

6) Cricket is adored in Antigua:

In Antigua, cricket “is more of a religion than a mere sport,” to use the words of a native. It is played whenever and whenever. On the island, kitesurfing, windsurfing, and sport fishing are among well-liked activities.

7) The summit is Mount Obama:

In 2009, Boggy Peak was renamed in honor of US President Barack Obama. How awesome is that?

8) The International Airport of V.C. Bird:

At a cost of $100 million, the airport’s brand-new, contemporary terminal was finished in 2015! British Airways, Delta, American, and United carriers are just a handful of the carriers that service it.

9) Notable locals:

Notable individuals who have resided or owned properties on the island include Oprah Winfrey, novelist Jamaica Kincaid, fashion designer Giorgio Armani, Virgin Atlantic founder Richard Branson, and Eric Clapton, who constructed a drug and treatment facility there.

10) The Carnival

Like many other Caribbean islands, Antigua celebrates carnival. On the other hand, Antigua celebrates their carnival on the dates of its freedom from slavery, which took place from the end of July to the beginning of August. It’s a ten-day festival featuring parades, live music, and vibrant costumes. The most significant day is “j’ouvert,” when brass and steel bands perform around the island. Barbuda’s carnival, dubbed “Caribana,” takes place in June.

Happy new year from Iowa, Winston here. I’m always watching to see what newer sites are going up and I just wanted to see if you would like an extra hand with getting some targeted traffic, Create custom AI bots to answer questions from visitors on your site or walk them through a sales process/funnel – I could even make a persona of yourself or employee to field questions about your business. I create/edit videos/images/adcopy, create/revamp/update sites, remove negative listings, the list goes on. I’ll even shoulder 90% of the costs, dedicating my time and tools that I’ve created myself and bought over the years. I’ve been doing this for over 22 years, helped thousands of people and have loved every minute of it.

There’s virtually no cost on my end to do any of this for you except for my time starting at 99 a month. I don’t mean to impose; I was just curious if I could lend a hand.

Brief history, I’ve been working from home for a couple decades now and I love helping others. I’m married, have three girls and if I can provide for them by helping you and giving back by using the tools and knowledge I’ve built and learned over the years, I can’t think of a better win-win.

It amazes me that no one else is helping others quite like I do and I’d love to show you how I can help out. So, if you need any extra help in any way, please let me know either way as I value your time and don’t want to pester you.

PS – If I didn’t mention something you might need help with just ask, I only mentioned a handful of things to keep this brief 🙂

    All the best,
